Jewish High Priests
Jewish High Priests were the chief religious leaders in ancient Israel, responsible for performing sacred rituals and maintaining the Temple in Jerusalem. They were descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses, and held a significant role in the Levitical priesthood, overseeing offerings and sacrifices.
The High Priest wore special garments, including the ephod and the breastplate, which symbolized their authority and connection to God. On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies to seek forgiveness for the sins of the people, highlighting their vital role in the spiritual life of the community.
