Jeongjo
Jeongjo was the 22nd king of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, reigning from 1776 to 1800. He is known for his efforts to reform the government and promote Confucian ideals. Jeongjo aimed to strengthen royal authority while also addressing the needs of the common people.
During his reign, Jeongjo established the Kyujanggak, a royal library and research institute, to encourage scholarship and learning. He also worked to improve the welfare of his subjects through various policies, including land reforms and support for agriculture. His reign is often regarded as a period of cultural and intellectual flourishing in Korea.
