Jeanne I of Navarre
Jeanne I of Navarre was born in 1273 and became the Queen of Navarre in 1284. She was the daughter of Henry I of Navarre and Blanche of Artois. Jeanne's reign was marked by her efforts to maintain the independence of Navarre amidst the political struggles of the time, particularly with the Kingdom of France.
In 1284, Jeanne married Philip IV of France, which strengthened ties between Navarre and France. However, her marriage also led to conflicts over her rights and the governance of Navarre. Jeanne I ruled until her death in 1305, leaving a significant legacy in the region's history.
