Charles II of Navarre
Charles II of Navarre, also known as Charles the Bad, was born in 1332 and became the King of Navarre in 1349. He was a member of the House of Évreux and ruled during a tumultuous period marked by the Hundred Years' War. His reign was characterized by political intrigue and conflicts with neighboring territories, particularly France and Castile.
Despite his controversial reputation, Charles II was known for his efforts to strengthen the economy of Navarre and improve its governance. He was also involved in various alliances and rivalries, which shaped the political landscape of Western Europe during the 14th century. Charles died in 1387, leaving a complex legacy.
