Jatis (Caste)
Jatis, or castes, are social groups in India that have traditionally defined individuals' roles, occupations, and social status. Each Jati is associated with specific jobs, customs, and rituals, often passed down through generations. The caste system has its roots in ancient Indian society and is linked to the Varna system, which categorizes people into four main groups: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras.
Over time, the caste system has evolved, leading to the emergence of thousands of distinct Jatis. While the Indian Constitution prohibits caste-based discrimination, social and economic disparities persist. Efforts to promote equality and social justice continue, aiming to reduce the influence of caste in modern Indian society.
