Japanese Hornet
The Japanese Hornet (Vespa mandarinia) is a large species of hornet native to East Asia, particularly found in Japan, Korea, and parts of China. It can grow up to 5 centimeters (2 inches) in length and is known for its distinctive yellow and black coloration. These hornets build large nests, often in trees or underground, and are social insects that live in colonies.
Japanese Hornets are known for their potent venom, which can cause severe pain and allergic reactions in humans. They primarily feed on other insects, including honeybees, making them significant predators in their ecosystem. While they are not aggressive unless provoked, their stings can be dangerous, especially for those allergic to their venom.
