Japan-Korea Relations
Japan-Korea relations refer to the diplomatic, economic, and cultural interactions between Japan and South Korea. These two countries share a complex history, marked by periods of cooperation and conflict, particularly due to Japan's colonial rule over Korea from 1910 to 1945. Today, both nations are important economic partners, engaging in trade and investment, but historical grievances continue to affect their relationship.
In recent years, issues such as territorial disputes over the Liancourt Rocks and differing perspectives on historical events have led to tensions. Despite these challenges, both countries participate in regional dialogues and collaborate on security matters, especially concerning North Korea.
