James Stewart, 2nd Earl of Moray
James Stewart, 2nd Earl of Moray (c. 1531–1570), was a Scottish nobleman and a prominent figure during the turbulent times of the {Scottish Reformation}. He was the illegitimate son of {James V of Scotland} and was known for his political influence and military leadership. Moray played a significant role in the {Scottish Parliament} and was a supporter of the {Protestant Reformation} in Scotland.
As a leader of the {Lords of the Congregation}, Moray helped to establish Protestantism in Scotland. He became the regent for his half-sister, {Mary, Queen of Scots}, after her forced abdication in 1567. His tenure was marked by political strife, and he was assassinated in 1570, which further intensified the conflicts in Scotland.
