Jack Murphy Stadium
Jack Murphy Stadium, also known as Qualcomm Stadium, was a multi-purpose stadium located in San Diego, California. Opened in 1967, it served as the home for various sports teams, including the San Diego Chargers of the NFL and the San Diego Padres of MLB. The stadium could accommodate over 70,000 spectators and hosted numerous events, including concerts and college football games.
The stadium was named after Jack Murphy, a local sportswriter, and underwent several renovations throughout its history. In 2017, it was officially closed and demolished, making way for new developments in the area. The site is now part of the Mission Valley redevelopment project.
