The San Diego Chargers were a professional American football team based in San Diego, California. They were established in 1960 and became a member of the National Football League (NFL) in 1970 when the AFL-NFL merger occurred. The team was known for its distinctive blue and gold uniforms and played its home games at Qualcomm Stadium until 2016.
In 2017, the Chargers relocated to Los Angeles, California, and they now play as the Los Angeles Chargers. Throughout their history, the team has had notable players, including LaDainian Tomlinson and Philip Rivers, and has made multiple playoff appearances, including a trip to the Super Bowl in 1995.
