Jōdo Shinshū
Jōdo Shinshū is a branch of Pure Land Buddhism founded by Shinran Shōnin in the early 13th century in Japan. It emphasizes faith in Amitābha Buddha and the recitation of his name as a means to attain enlightenment and rebirth in the Pure Land. Unlike other Buddhist schools, it teaches that salvation is accessible to everyone, regardless of their spiritual abilities.
The core belief of Jōdo Shinshū is that individuals can achieve liberation through sincere faith and reliance on Amitābha's compassion. This tradition encourages followers to cultivate a deep sense of gratitude and humility, fostering a community centered around shared faith and practice.
