Izanami
Izanami is a goddess in Japanese mythology, known as the creator of the Japanese islands and the mother of many deities. She is part of the Shinto belief system and is often associated with life and death. Izanami, along with her partner Izanagi, descended to the chaos to create the world, using a spear to stir the ocean and form land.
After giving birth to the islands, Izanami died during childbirth. Grief-stricken, Izanagi attempted to retrieve her from the underworld, known as Yomi. However, he was unable to bring her back, leading to themes of separation and the cycle of life and death in Japanese mythology.
