Ivan Meštrović
Ivan Meštrović was a prominent Croatian sculptor and architect, born on August 15, 1883, in the village of Vrpolje, Croatia. He is best known for his large-scale sculptures and monuments, which often reflect themes from Croatian history and culture. Meštrović's work combines elements of Renaissance and Baroque styles, showcasing his exceptional skill and creativity.
Throughout his career, Meštrović created numerous notable pieces, including the Statue of Grgur Ninski in Split and the Indianapolis War Memorial. He also contributed to architecture, designing several buildings, such as the Meštrović Gallery in Split. Meštrović passed away on January 16, 1962, leaving a lasting legacy in the art world.
