Italy under Mussolini
Italy under Mussolini (1922-1943) was marked by the establishment of a totalitarian regime. Mussolini aimed to create a strong, centralized state and promoted the ideology of Fascism, which emphasized nationalism and authoritarianism. He suppressed political opposition, controlled the media, and used propaganda to maintain power.
During this period, Italy pursued aggressive foreign policies, including the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935 and joining the Axis Powers in World War II. Mussolini's ambitions ultimately led to military failures and economic struggles, resulting in his downfall and the eventual collapse of the Fascist regime in 1943.
