Italian First Republic
The Italian First Republic refers to the period of Italian history from 1946 to 1994, following World War II. It began with the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a parliamentary republic. This era was marked by political instability, with numerous governments and coalitions, as well as the influence of various parties, including the Christian Democracy and the Italian Communist Party.
During the Italian First Republic, Italy experienced significant economic growth known as the "Italian economic miracle." However, this period was also characterized by corruption scandals, particularly the Tangentopoli scandal in the early 1990s, which led to the collapse of many traditional parties and the end of the First Republic.
