Isle of May Lighthouse
The Isle of May Lighthouse is located on the Isle of May, a small island in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Built in 1816, it was designed by the engineer Robert Stevenson, a prominent figure in lighthouse construction. The lighthouse stands 16 meters tall and features a distinctive white tower with a black lantern.
The lighthouse was automated in 1989, which means it no longer requires a keeper to operate. It plays a crucial role in guiding ships safely through the waters of the Firth of Forth, ensuring maritime safety in this busy shipping area. The Isle of May is also known for its rich wildlife, including seabirds and seals.
