Udhiyah
Udhiyah is an Islamic practice that involves the ritual sacrifice of an animal, typically a sheep, goat, cow, or camel, during the festival of Eid al-Adha. This act commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah (God). The sacrifice is performed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah and is a way for Muslims to express gratitude and share blessings with others.
The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one-third is given to the needy, one-third is shared with relatives and friends, and the remaining third is kept for the family. This practice emphasizes the importance of charity and community, allowing Muslims to support those in need while celebrating the spirit of Eid al-Adha.
