Iron Gate
The Iron Gate is a significant natural gorge located in the Iron Gate Gorge National Park along the Danube River. It forms a border between Romania and Serbia and is known for its stunning landscapes, steep cliffs, and rich biodiversity. The gorge is approximately 134 kilometers long and features various hiking trails and viewpoints for visitors.
The Iron Gate region is also home to the Iron Gate Hydroelectric Power Station, one of the largest hydroelectric plants in Europe. This facility plays a crucial role in energy production for both Romania and Serbia, harnessing the river's flow to generate electricity while contributing to the local economy.
