Iron Gate Hydroelectric Power Station
The Iron Gate Hydroelectric Power Station is a significant hydroelectric facility located on the Danube River, straddling the border between Romania and Serbia. It was completed in 1972 and consists of two power plants: Iron Gate I and Iron Gate II. Together, they have a total installed capacity of about 2,700 megawatts, making it one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Europe.
The power station plays a crucial role in generating electricity for the region and managing river flow. It also creates a large reservoir, known as the Iron Gate Reservoir, which helps with flood control and navigation along the Danube.
