Intrinsic Hand Muscles
Intrinsic hand muscles are a group of small muscles located within the hand itself. They are responsible for fine motor movements, allowing for precise actions such as gripping, pinching, and manipulating objects. These muscles include the lumbricals, interossei, and thenar and hypothenar muscles, which work together to control the fingers and thumb.
These muscles are essential for tasks that require dexterity, such as writing or playing musical instruments. Unlike extrinsic muscles, which originate in the forearm and control hand movements through tendons, intrinsic muscles provide more refined control and coordination directly within the hand.
