Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a specialized fertility treatment used to assist couples facing male infertility issues. During this procedure, a single sperm is directly injected into an egg, bypassing many natural barriers to fertilization. This technique is often used in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF) to increase the chances of successful conception.
ICSI is particularly beneficial for men with low sperm count or poor sperm motility. The process begins with the retrieval of eggs from the female partner, followed by the selection of a healthy sperm from the male partner. Once fertilization occurs, the resulting embryos can be transferred to the uterus.
