Interrupted Suture
An "Interrupted Suture" is a type of surgical stitch used to close wounds or surgical incisions. Unlike continuous sutures, where a single thread runs along the entire length of the wound, interrupted sutures consist of individual stitches placed at intervals. This method allows for better control of tension and can be adjusted easily if needed.
Interrupted sutures are commonly used in various surgical procedures, including those performed by surgeons in orthopedics and plastic surgery. They provide strong wound closure and can reduce the risk of complications, such as dehiscence, where the wound reopens.
