International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor
The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is a major international research project aimed at demonstrating the feasibility of nuclear fusion as a clean and virtually limitless energy source. Located in France, ITER brings together 35 countries, including the European Union, the United States, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Russia, to collaborate on this ambitious scientific endeavor.
Fusion is the process that powers the sun, where light atomic nuclei combine to form heavier ones, releasing vast amounts of energy. ITER's goal is to create a controlled fusion reaction, paving the way for future fusion power plants that could provide sustainable energy for generations to come.
