Indonesian society
Indonesian society is diverse, comprising over 300 ethnic groups, with the largest being the Javanese. This diversity is reflected in the country's languages, cultures, and traditions, with more than 700 languages spoken across the archipelago. The majority of the population practices Islam, making Indonesia the largest Muslim-majority country in the world, but there are also significant communities of Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists.
Family plays a central role in Indonesian culture, with strong ties and respect for elders being emphasized. Community life is important, often centered around local customs and traditions. Festivals, such as Idul Fitri and Nyepi, showcase the rich cultural heritage and the harmonious coexistence of various beliefs and practices within Indonesian society.
