Indigenous Languages of Mexico
Mexico is home to a rich diversity of Indigenous languages, with over 60 distinct languages spoken by various Indigenous groups. These languages belong to several language families, including Uto-Aztecan, Mayan, and Oto-Manguean. Some of the most widely spoken Indigenous languages include Nahuatl, Maya, and Mixtec.
The Mexican government recognizes the importance of preserving these languages as part of the nation's cultural heritage. Efforts are being made to promote bilingual education and support language revitalization initiatives, ensuring that younger generations can learn and maintain their Indigenous languages alongside Spanish.
