Indian bison
The Indian bison, also known as the gaur, is a large wild cattle species native to the Indian subcontinent. It has a robust build, with males weighing between 800 to 1,500 pounds. The bison is characterized by its dark brown to black coat, long curved horns, and a distinctive hump on its shoulders.
These animals primarily inhabit forests and grasslands, where they graze on grasses, leaves, and shrubs. The Indian bison is a social animal, often found in small herds led by a dominant male. Due to habitat loss and hunting, the gaur is classified as vulnerable by the IUCN.
