India's Chandrayaan-2
India's Chandrayaan-2 is a lunar exploration mission launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on July 22, 2019. The mission aimed to study the Moon's surface, particularly the south pole region, and consisted of an orbiter, lander, and rover. The orbiter successfully entered lunar orbit and continues to send valuable data back to Earth.
The lander, named Vikram, was designed to make a soft landing on the Moon but lost communication during its descent on September 6, 2019. Despite this setback, the orbiter has been operational and has contributed significantly to lunar science, enhancing our understanding of the Moon's geology and atmosphere.
