Independence of Bangladesh
The Independence of Bangladesh refers to the country's liberation from Pakistan in 1971. The struggle began due to political, economic, and cultural discrimination faced by the Bengali people in East Pakistan. Tensions escalated, leading to widespread protests and demands for autonomy.
On March 26, 1971, after a brutal military crackdown by the Pakistani army, Bangladesh declared its independence. The ensuing nine-month-long war resulted in significant loss of life and displacement. Finally, on December 16, 1971, Bangladesh emerged victorious, becoming an independent nation, with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as its first leader.
