Ibn Zuhr
Ibn Zuhr, also known as Avenzoar, was a prominent Muslim physician and philosopher born in Seville around 1091. He is best known for his contributions to medicine, particularly in the field of surgery and the treatment of diseases. His most famous work, the "Kitab al-Taisir," served as a medical guide for practitioners and was influential in both the Islamic world and later in Europe.
In addition to his medical achievements, Ibn Zuhr emphasized the importance of clinical observation and experimentation. He was one of the first to advocate for the use of animal dissection to better understand human anatomy. His ideas laid the groundwork for future medical advancements and influenced notable figures like Ibn Sina and Rhazes.
