INEOS 1:59 Challenge
The INEOS 1:59 Challenge was a special event aimed at breaking the two-hour barrier in the marathon. Organized by INEOS, a global chemical company, the challenge took place on October 12, 2019, in Vienna, Austria. The event featured elite runner Eliud Kipchoge, who had previously set the world record for the marathon.
During the challenge, Kipchoge completed the 42.195 kilometers (26.2 miles) in an astonishing time of 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 40 seconds. However, this achievement was not recognized as an official world record due to the use of pacers and a controlled environment, which are not allowed in standard marathon races.
