IC 405
IC 405, also known as the Flaming Star Nebula, is an emission nebula located in the constellation Auriga. It is approximately 1,500 light-years away from Earth and is notable for its bright, colorful gas and dust clouds, which are illuminated by the nearby star AE Aurigae.
The nebula spans about 6 light-years across and is part of a larger molecular cloud complex. IC 405 is a region of active star formation, where new stars are born from the surrounding gas and dust. Its striking appearance makes it a popular target for both amateur and professional astronomers.
