Hylobates moloch
Hylobates moloch, commonly known as the black gibbon or the silvery gibbon, is a species of gibbon found in the forests of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. These primates are known for their long arms and distinctive vocalizations, which they use to communicate with each other. They typically have a black coat with lighter facial features and can weigh between 5 to 7 kg.
Black gibbons are arboreal, spending most of their time in trees, where they move gracefully through the branches. They are social animals, often living in small family groups. Their diet mainly consists of fruits, leaves, and flowers, making them important seed dispersers in their ecosystem.
