Hyder Ali was an important military leader and ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore in southern India during the 18th century. Hyder Ali's reign was characterized by conflicts with the British East India Company, particularly during the Anglo-Mysore Wars. He was succeeded by his son, Tipu Sultan, who continued to fight against British forces after Hyder Ali's death in 1782.
