Hugh Despenser the Younger
Hugh Despenser the Younger was an English nobleman born around 1286. He was the son of Hugh Despenser the Elder, a powerful courtier and favorite of King Edward II. Despenser the Younger became a prominent figure in the English court, known for his close relationship with the king and his role in the political conflicts of the time.
He played a significant part in the struggles between the king and his opponents, particularly the Baronial opposition. Despenser's influence grew, leading to his appointment as the king's chief advisor. However, his power and wealth made him many enemies, ultimately leading to his downfall and execution in 1326.
