Huascarán Sur
Huascarán Sur is the highest peak in Peru, standing at 6,768 meters (22,205 feet) above sea level. It is part of the Huascarán National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning landscapes and diverse ecosystems. The mountain is a popular destination for climbers and trekkers, offering challenging routes and breathtaking views.
The peak is named after Huascar, a ruler of the Inca Empire. Huascarán Sur is often climbed alongside its slightly lower counterpart, Huascarán Norte. The region is characterized by glacial formations, high-altitude lakes, and unique flora and fauna, making it a significant area for both adventure and conservation.
