Huang He
The Huang He, also known as the Yellow River, is the second-longest river in China, stretching about 5,464 kilometers (3,395 miles). It flows through nine provinces and is often referred to as the "cradle of Chinese civilization" due to its historical significance in supporting early agricultural societies.
The river gets its name from the yellow silt, or loess, that it carries, which gives the water a distinct color. The Huang He has been both a source of life and a cause of devastating floods throughout history, making it a vital yet challenging natural resource for the people living along its banks.
