Hong Kong Alliance
The Hong Kong Alliance is a pro-democracy organization founded in 1989, primarily known for its advocacy of human rights and political freedoms in Hong Kong. It gained prominence for organizing annual vigils commemorating the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, emphasizing the importance of remembering the struggle for democracy in China.
In recent years, the Alliance has faced increasing pressure from the Hong Kong government and authorities, particularly after the implementation of the National Security Law in 2020. This law has led to a crackdown on dissent, resulting in the arrest of several members and the eventual disbandment of the organization in 2021.
