Homowo
Homowo is a traditional festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana. It marks the end of the farming season and is a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. The festival usually takes place in August and involves various cultural activities, including music, dance, and feasting.
During Homowo, participants prepare a special dish called kpokpoi, made from corn and palm oil. The festival also features colorful parades and rituals to honor ancestors and seek blessings for future harvests. It serves as a reminder of the community's resilience and unity in overcoming past hardships, particularly a historical famine.
