Hojo clan
The Hojo clan was a powerful samurai family in Japan during the late Heian and Kamakura periods. They were known for their significant influence in the Kamakura shogunate, where they served as regents for the shoguns. The clan's leadership was marked by strategic marriages and military prowess, allowing them to control much of the Kanto region.
The Hojo clan rose to prominence in the 13th century but faced challenges from rival clans and external threats, such as the Mongol invasions. Their power began to decline in the late 14th century, leading to their eventual downfall during the Nanboku-chō period.
