Henry the Proud
Henry the Proud was a notable historical figure in the early 11th century, known for his role as the Duke of Bavaria and later as the Duke of Saxony. Born around 1108, he was a member of the Welf dynasty and played a significant part in the political landscape of the Holy Roman Empire. His ambitions often put him at odds with the Hohenstaufen family, leading to conflicts over power and territory.
Henry was also the son of Henry the Black and the grandson of Henry the Great. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen his influence and expand his territories, but he faced challenges from rival factions. Ultimately, his aspirations led to his downfall, as he was stripped of his titles and exiled in 1138.
