Henrietta Muir Edwards
Henrietta Muir Edwards (1849-1931) was a Canadian women's rights activist and a key figure in the suffrage movement. She co-founded the National Council of Women of Canada in 1893 and played a significant role in advocating for women's legal rights, including property rights and access to education.
Edwards was also instrumental in the establishment of the Famous Five, a group of women who fought for women's rights in Canada. Her efforts contributed to the recognition of women as "persons" under Canadian law in 1929, a landmark decision that advanced gender equality in the country.
