Helio Oiticica
Helio Oiticica was a Brazilian artist known for his innovative contributions to the art world, particularly in the fields of installation and participatory art. Born in 1937, he became a key figure in the Neo-Concrete movement, which sought to break away from traditional artistic forms and engage viewers in new ways. His works often incorporated vibrant colors and materials, inviting interaction and exploration.
Oiticica is best known for his series of installations called Parangolé, which included capes and banners that encouraged movement and participation. He believed that art should be an experience rather than a passive observation, influencing future generations of artists and movements, including Performance Art and Conceptual Art.
