Hawise of Brittany
Hawise of Brittany was a noblewoman born around 1170, known for her significant role in the medieval politics of Brittany. She was the daughter of Duke Conan IV of Brittany and Margaret of Scotland, and her marriage to Richard I of England helped strengthen ties between England and Brittany.
After Richard's death, Hawise married Hugh IX of Lusignan, further intertwining noble families. She was a key figure in the succession disputes of Brittany and played a vital role in the region's governance during her lifetime, influencing both local and broader political landscapes.
