Hasmonean Kingdom
The Hasmonean Kingdom was a Jewish state that existed from 140 BCE to 37 BCE in the region of Judea. It was established after the successful revolt against the Seleucid Empire led by the Maccabees, a group of Jewish fighters. The kingdom expanded its territory and sought to promote Jewish culture and religion during its rule.
The Hasmonean dynasty was marked by a series of rulers from the Hasmonean family, who were descendants of the Maccabees. The kingdom eventually fell to Roman influence, leading to the rise of Herod the Great and the end of Hasmonean independence.
