Harvey House
Harvey House refers to a series of restaurants and hotels established by Fred Harvey in the late 19th century. These establishments were strategically located along the Santa Fe Railroad to provide quality meals and accommodations for travelers. Known for their clean, comfortable environments, Harvey Houses played a significant role in improving the dining experience in the American West.
The first Harvey House opened in 1876 in Topeka, Kansas, and the chain expanded rapidly, becoming a symbol of hospitality. The restaurants were famous for their Harvey Girls, young women hired to serve meals, who became an iconic part of the American frontier experience.
