Hairy Crab
The Hairy Crab, also known as the Chinese Mitten Crab or Eriocheir sinensis, is a species of crab native to East Asia. It is recognized for its distinctive hairy claws, which resemble mittens. These crabs typically inhabit freshwater rivers and estuaries, and they are known for their ability to migrate between freshwater and saltwater environments.
Hairy Crabs are popular in culinary dishes, especially in Chinese cuisine, where they are often steamed and served with dipping sauces. They are usually harvested during the autumn months when they are at their peak size and flavor. Due to their adaptability, they have also become an invasive species in some regions outside their native habitat.
