Gustavo Gutiérrez
Gustavo Gutiérrez is a Peruvian theologian and Dominican priest, widely recognized as one of the founders of the movement known as Liberation Theology. Born on June 8, 1928, he has dedicated much of his life to addressing social justice issues within the context of Christianity, emphasizing the importance of the poor and marginalized in society.
Gutiérrez's influential work, particularly his book A Theology of Liberation, published in 1971, argues that faith should inspire action against poverty and oppression. His ideas have sparked significant debate within the Catholic Church and beyond, impacting both theology and social activism in Latin America and around the world.
