Gurpurab
Gurpurab is a significant religious festival celebrated by Sikhs to honor the birth anniversaries of their ten Gurus. The most prominent Gurpurab is the celebration of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, which usually falls in November. Devotees gather in Gurdwaras (Sikh temples) for prayers, hymns, and community meals known as langar.
During Gurpurab, special processions called Nagar Kirtan take place, featuring singing of Shabads (sacred hymns) and the reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. The festival emphasizes values such as equality, service, and devotion, fostering a sense of community among participants.
