Nagar Kirtan
Nagar Kirtan is a public procession in Sikhism that involves singing hymns and chanting praises of Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhs. It is often organized to celebrate significant events, such as Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. Participants walk through the streets, sharing their faith and inviting others to join in the celebration.
During the procession, devotees carry the Nishan Sahib, the Sikh flag, and may also distribute free food, known as langar, to all attendees. The atmosphere is filled with music, devotion, and community spirit, promoting unity and peace among people of all backgrounds.
