Shabads
Shabads are hymns or verses from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. They are composed in various languages and reflect spiritual teachings, emphasizing devotion, equality, and the oneness of God. Shabads are often sung or recited during religious ceremonies and personal prayers, creating a meditative atmosphere.
In Sikh worship, Shabads play a central role, as they are integral to the kirtan practice, where congregational singing occurs. Each Shabad is typically set to a specific musical raag, enhancing its emotional and spiritual impact. This practice fosters a sense of community and connection among worshippers.
